Adjustment of Finger Springs
Finger springs are adjusted using either adams or round/flat pliers.
Grip the 'finger' as it leaves the loop of the spring and bend the wire using your finger as close as possible to the pliers. Adjust the spring so that the sping is approximately 14-13 of the tooth width in activation.
Then adjust the contact of the spring so that it is throught the centre of effort and in the correct direction.
Finally adjust the contact height so that the sping is a low as possibel to the gingival margin - this is to reduce the amount of tipping.
REMEMBER to ensure that the acrylic baseplate does not hinder tooth movement.
